Downtown Florianópolis
Florianópolis means city of flowers.

Very old buildings mixed with very new buildings

Building materials near Lagoa do Peri

The tunnels to the downtown area.

The favela of Floripa.

In the middle of the city is a small park with this 350 year old tree.

The Tree of Life. This is one very old tree.

Night time shot of the gnarley 350 year old tree lit up with a green
spotlight.

Many streets were closed to cars to allow pedestrian shopping.

Lots of crazy promotions everywhere.

Floripans walking the strange city streets.

I've never seen so many pastel buildings.

The tree limbs had metal supports to keep them up.

Some pigeons waiting to poop on the next sorry soul.

The Floripan Tree of Life

The Flag of Florianopolis

Lots of very different architecture.

Some of these buildings are hundreds of years old.

Hi!
Your pictures are great!
But the name "Florianópolis" means "City of Floriano Peixoto" ...a bad political , that's why the people changes the name for "Floripa".
Thank you!
