One of the oldest gardens in the world. The Jardim Botânico (Botanical Garden) was created in 1808 by Dom João VI. It was developed to test the sustainability of many Asian plants when replanted in Rio de Janeiro. Many of the plants were then planted in the Tijuca National Forest after all of the logging made the hillside's barren. Many of the plants that are found there today were not indigenous to Brazil. ![]() Graffiti near Copacabana. ![]() Cristo Redentor ![]() More graffiti ![]() Gigantic palm trees ![]() Some of the oldest palm trees in the world ![]() Interesting brazilian lawn art. ![]() Enormous Ancient Trees ![]() Giant palm trees ![]() Gazebo ![]() ![]() Brazlian Lilly pads. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bamboo ![]() ![]() Museum Artifacts ![]() Palm trees reaching into the skies. ![]() Corcovado ![]() Corcovado ![]() Lage Park, this is where Snoop Dog filmed his video, "Beautiful".
