Love the canyon treefrog pics; those are the ones that sound like a rivet gun or sheep. Males are the only ones that call, females don't. Often one male will call and then others will start calling. I am a biology student and I study these guys in Zion, glad to see others appreciate them as well:)

Hi, it's your sister.
I was just wondering if you have hiked Lowe Peak in the Oquirrh Mountains. There is not a trail and it will require bushwacking, routefinding, and stream fording. I would like know what I am getting into before I am already in it. Great site!!

Anytime you travel in this world you get the bad along with the good. I think another big factor is if you travel to tourist areas as opposed to the off the beaten path areas. I have been going to jamaica for 15 years, I do understand the culture and the language. I would think that one should have both of those two assets before judging. If you don't understand , how can you judge?
Aggressive conversation? They call conversation an argument! Let's not get so comfortable in our own cultures that we forget why we travel. We travel to embrace other cultures, good and bad!
I have a retreat there for the past eight years. Have been going to the same village for 15 years. Sure things have happened but so have these same things gone on stateside.
Your generalization of Rasta's was alarming and tends to sway towards racism. Never can we lump people into one category, I should hope that we have evolved more than that.
